چکیده
The harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation have increased the demand for new sources UV photoprotectants to develop cosmetic and skin care products. In this study, a filamentous cyanobacterial strain was isolated from topsoil collected in an arid exposed region Chetimari, Niger. On basis 16S rDNA sequences, identified as Pseudanabaena sp. CCNU1. UV-B treatment CCNU1 significantly enhanced production active photoprotectants, including UV-absorbing mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) carotenoids. irradiation mainly induced one MAA, palythine-serine. palythine-serine content high 16 mg g−1 dry weight after 4-day treatment. Eight carotenoids were detected methanol extracts UV-B-treated CCNU1: β-carotene, echinenone, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, synechoxanthin, three myxoxanthophyll derivatives. With exception β-carotene these positively correlated with duration. Thus, unique organism that produces considerable abundance well protect against radiation. may be useful producer although genetic relevant biosynthetic pathways remains precisely characterized future.

Mycosporine-like amino acids in the marine red alga Gracilaria cornea — effects of UV and heat
Ultraviolet (UV)-absorbing mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) were separated from a marine red alga Gracilaria cornea using HPLC. The isolated MAAs were identified as porphyra-334 and/or shinorine by comparing them with various standards. No in vivo induction of MAAs was detected in G. cornea even when the organism was grown for 4–5 days either in the presence of UV-A and UV-B only or in combi...

Coral reefs are one of the most important marine ecosystems, providing habitat for approximately a quarter of all marine organisms. Within the foundation of this ecosystem, reef-building corals form mutualistic symbioses with unicellular photosynthetic dinoflagellates of the genus Symbiodinium. Exposure to UV radiation (UVR) (280 to 400 nm) especially when combined with thermal stress has been ...
متن کاملNovel glycosylated mycosporine-like amino acids with radical scavenging activity from the cyanobacterium Nostoc commune.
Mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) are UV absorbing pigments, and structurally distinct MAAs have been identified in taxonomically diverse organisms. Two novel MAAs were purified from the cyanobacterium Nostoc commune, and their chemical structures were characterized. An MAA with an absorption maximum at 335 nm was identified as a pentose-bound porphyra-334 derivative with a molecular mass of ...

Organisms living in clear, shallow water are exposed to the damaging wavelengths of solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) coincident with the longer wavelengths of photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) also necessary for vision. With the general exception of bacteria, taxonomically diverse marine and freshwater organisms have evolved the capacity to synthesize or accumulate UV-absorbing myco...
